The RV is currently being retrofitted, to be completed by the end of May! SO SOON! Thank you to Farber Specialty Vehicles for coming up with some great ideas for the RV - including the exterior design that you see on the main page.

We've been very pleased with the progress; the computer station that was recently installed looks GREAT! It will soon be sent off to be sanded down and painted... can't wait to see the final product!

Outside of waiting for this 36-ft beauty to be done, we are working on all the logistics and planning of the tour, from getting our home ready to rent out, to finding and confirming locations for us to host a gathering/event. We could not be more excited for the opportunity to visit Canada as well (where I was born and raised) and have our passports ready to go! Ben hopes to be able to show some young minds their very first sunspots :). We've been given so many tips and pointers from many (please keep sending them our way - the advice is truly appreciated!)

To those who have kindly offered to host our family- we will be reaching out soon to narrow down timelines. Thank you for your generosity and kindness!

Please feel free to direct any questions to Kat@observatoryproject.com or Ben@observatoryproject.com

Hello Kat,
Suggestion - can you please add a Google+ button so I can share your news on my Google page?
I am in Australia, so I am very sad that I can not see you on the road trip. All the very best to you and Ben and your puppies for the Trip of a Lifetime :)
Vivien.

I know of a few places in Ontario you might like to visit.

Bancroft, Peterborough, Port Hope, Oshawa, Pickering, and Scarborough.

The best spot in Ontario I know of is in Algonquin Park.

I was born in Scarborough General Hospital... its been many years; you have no idea how happy I'll be to be back in my hometown!

Will check out Algonquin, a friend mentioned Christie Pits too. Send me a quick e-mail if you'd like to help us facilitate something! Looking forward to connecting with you on the road.

Scarborough represent!
Long time S0 here as well as past Scarborough resident - looking forward to seeing a few local Mobile Observatory dates posted for visits or events in Ontario. Guest speaker at a local observatory perhaps? (David Dunlap, or the new Longpoint in South Ontario/Brantford)

Depending on the time of year you could also watch the Leafs play/lose a game. Good times!

Keep up the great work - the daily news is a wealth of information worth sharing.

Cheers!

Hey, wouldn't it be cool if S0s could go with the RV to schools!!

Vivien- great minds think alike! Working on scheduling events or a lecture at college campuses/high schools... got some very bright students who have collectively gotten their class name on the RV. Its very inspiring!

While driving my wife and family around on vacations for many years I one day noticed that I do not get to see what they all see as I am always concentrating on staying on the road and keeping my family safe. In a 36' Motorhome, I would amagine this chore would be even more of a task to see our beautiful country, and Canada.
In adddition, driving most of the day or night from destination to destination is a bit tiring.

This, to me is not a pleasure, sightseeing tour but a trade of valuable information tour.

If you are a sponsor or want to host Ben and Kat when they come to your location, some things you might consider are:
Maybe providing them with a place to stay and relax, like your home.
Feeding them or taking them our to a nice spot to eat. Inviting friend to come to visit with them. Contacting your local High School or College and have Ben give a presentation on what's going on with our planet....Having a safe and secure place for them to park their Motorhome while away from it, etc. I'am assuming these will all be short stops so will be looking forward in making sure that when they come to our area (Sulphur, La.), they will leave with kind thought's of our area and the way they were treated.

Met Ben and Kat at Electric Universe 2014, listen to his SO report daily and was thrilled to subscribe to his premiun information channel. A great couple and a great team you will likely not soon forget.
